When replacing an entry door on the South Shore, some choices are easy to see right away: colour, glass, style, and hardware. A multi-point lock entry door, however, usually raises more questions.

Once the first serious cold weather arrives on the South Shore, many homeowners who were planning to replace their windows start asking the same question: is it too late to begin?

During a renovation, one small idea can turn into a much larger project. “If we are replacing this window anyway, why not make it a little bigger?”

An egress window is not simply a large basement window. When a window is intended to provide an emergency exit from a bedroom, what matters is the actual clear opening when the window is open, how easily it can be operated from inside, and whether there is enough usable space outside.

When two window quotes land on the table, one for double glazing and another for triple glazing, the comparison seems almost suspiciously easy. Three panes must be better than two, right?
